Phillies Spring Training: The Boys are Back
Phillies Spring Training is starting this week and we could not be more ready for the 2023 season.
The Philadelphia Phillies are scheduled to begin their Spring Training in 2023 this week in Clearwater, Florida (aka Clearwooder.) The team’s first game is set to take place on February 25th against the Detroit Tigers.
During Spring Training, the Phillies will play a total of 28 games, including 14 home games at Spectrum Field and 14 away games at various locations throughout Florida. The last game of the Phillies’ Spring Training schedule is currently scheduled for March 28th against the Toronto Blue Jays.
In addition to playing games, the Phillies will use Spring Training to fine-tune their skills, develop team chemistry, and evaluate new talent. Fans will also have the opportunity to attend open practices and interact with players and coaches. The Phillies Spring Training is always a fan-friendly, great baseball atmosphere for everyone.
Phillies Spring Training Things to Watch
- Trea Turner: How will Trea fit in with what seems like a very close group of teammates. (Spoiler alert: So far, he looks like things will be just fine.)
- Alec Bohm: Let’s see how Alec’s off season prep and his gaining of 10-15 lbs muscle translates into power.
- The Pitching Staff: Walker and Kimbrel were the big names added, but we are still in the hunt for a 5th starter. (Sidenote: When will Andrew Painter make his big league debut?)
- Rhys Hoskins: I think everyone here is looking for defensive improvements.
- Bryson Stott: How will Bryson playing next to Turner at 2b help his development? I think the sky is the limit for Stott.
- Bryce Harper: Let’s see how Bryce handles last year’s injuries. (Although, he was injury plagued in 2022, Harper had a great season.)
