The Complete Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies were established in 1883, making them one of the oldest teams in the MLB. Over the years, the Phillies have had their fair share of successes and failures, including two World Series championships in 1980 and 2008. Despite their storied history, the Phillies have struggled to make the post-season until our World Series run in 2022.

The Phillies are owned by a partnership led by managing partner John S. Middleton. Mr. Middleton assumed control of the team in 2016 and has been instrumental in ensuring its success.

The Phillies have retired six uniform numbers in honor of some of the greatest players in franchise history. The retired numbers are as follows:
#1 retired in honor of Richie Ashburn
#14 retired in honor of Jim Bunning
#15 retired in honor of Dick Allen
#20, retired in honor of Mike Schmidt
#32, retired in honor of Steve Carlton
#34 retired in honor Roy Halladay
#36, retired in honor of Robin Roberts
#42, retired throughout Major League Baseball in honor of Jackie Robinson
Grover Alexander Cleveland is also honored (although he played without a jersey number)

The Philadelphia Phillies play their home games at Citizens Bank Park, which is located at 1 Citizens Bank Way, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19148. The stadium opened in 2004 and has a seating capacity of over 42,000 fans. Citizens Bank Park is widely regarded as one of the premier ballparks in Major League Baseball

The Phils hold their spring training in Clearwater, Florida, at the Carpenter Complex, which is the team’s training facility, and at BayCare Ballpark, which is the team’s spring training stadium. (Clearwater is commonly referred to as ‘Clearwooder‘ by people in Philly and the area due to their accents and pronunciation of the word ‘Water’.)

After the 2022 season we all experienced — the goal is more than making the playoffs. The Phils have their eyes set on a World Series Championship.
