In 1982, Simon & Garfunkel held a concert there as part of their reunion tour, drawing a crowd of over 90,000 people.

Live Aid, the monumental charity concert aimed at fighting famine in Ethiopia, took place simultaneously in London and Philadelphia on July 13, 1985. The Philadelphia portion was held at JFK Stadium and featured performances by renowned artists such as Madonna, Tom Petty, and the Heartbreakers, and the Black Eyed Peas.
